While areas like Raleigh, Washington, DC, Pittsburgh and New York may see improvement by the weekend, parts of New England could be stuck with a soggy stretch. A break in severe storms continues across the Lower 48 thanks to a jet stream setup that favors high pressure in the West and limited Gulf moisture. That has left much of the central and eastern U.S. quiet. While showers and storms are possible over the next week, widespread severe weather looks unlikely.
