Flood Watch
Issued: 6:45 PM Jun. 5, 2025 – National Weather Service
...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY
AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Kansas, including the following
county, Cherokee and Missouri, including the following counties,
Barry, Christian, Douglas, Greene, Howell, Jasper, Lawrence,
McDonald, Newton, Ozark, Stone, Taney, Texas, Webster and Wright.

* WHEN...From late tonight through Friday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Low-water crossings may be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- A thunderstorm complex is expected to form across
southwestern Kansas tonight, then make its way toward the
area late tonight into Friday morning. Exact track will
remain uncertain until the complex develops, but the most
likely track favors southern portions of the area for the
greatest rainfall. Potential exists for rainfall amounts of
1-3 inches with locally up to 5 inches. With recent rainfall,
soils are saturated and excessive rainfall will quickly lead
to flooding. Significant changes to the rainfall forecast is
possible with later updates, so stay aware.
