...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT NORTHWESTERN ELBERT...HART... SOUTHEASTERN GREENVILLE...ANDERSON...NORTHERN ABBEVILLE...SOUTHERN PICKENS AND SOUTHEASTERN OCONEE COUNTIES THROUGH 1230 AM EDT... At 1133 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 3 miles southwest of Pickens to 6 miles south of Hartwell. Movement was east at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Fork Shoals, Anderson Airport, Starr, Central, Powdersville, Northlake, Honea Path, Vanna, Norris, and Reed Creek. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. If on or near Lake Hartwell, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now!
